So I recently learned a very valuable lesson from my herd of horses. It is only 4 horses but yes it is a herd. A couple of years ago I purchased a young horse. I never asked any questions around this purchase. He is a very well bred horse and very pretty. So I made the purchase solely on the basis of those 2 factors with the thought that if it did not work out he would be easy to sell because he was very good looking and his breeding was very good. So I brought him home and kept him separate from the rest of the horses for a few weeks and I worked at becoming friends with him. Right from the very begging he was very standoffish and he never did get really friendly. When I felt the time was right I put him out with the herd. The rest of my horses did not like him right off the bat and I thought they would warm up to him in few days once they taught him his place in the herd? Well that never did happen and they never did really accept him. Never the less I began the training process and in the beginning it seemed to be going fine until the first time I saddled him and he bucked like a rock star. So we managed to work through that and then it became time to start riding him. He bucked me off twice before I started to clue in that this relationship was probably not going to work. Good thing I’m cute because sometimes I’m not very smart. So I finally started asking the universe some questions as I now had a bucking horse that I wanted to sell. Sure enough a possibility showed up for me to send him to a big ranch to get some riding. I thought well at least if they get him to quit bucking I will be able to sell him. After a few weeks the fellow that was riding him offered to buy him from me as he had taken a liking to this young horse. So in the end I was able to sell him and after asking some questions and following the energy I was able to purchase another young horse who so far has fit into the herd much better and is much easier to work with. I will keep you posted as to how the process goes in the future.
